Dear Friends:

This is my first complete issue of Colleagues List in some weeks because of my recuperation from cataract surgery. It's good to be back!.

My Special Item is a recent column I wrote for the Anglican Journal entitled "Decolonization Starts With Me." It speaks of how my thoughts are evolving about the non-white peoples of Canada and the world.

I hope you will celebrate a meaningful Thanksgiving this weekend, whether you are Canadian or not.

Wayne

WISDOM OF THE WEEK

Provided by Sojourners and the Bruderhof Online:

Faith is the strength by which a shattered world
shall emerge into the light.

- Helen Keller

--

If we believe, simply, that it gets better, there is
no incentive to do the work to ensure that it does.

- Mychal Denzel Smith

--

There's power in love to help and heal when
nothing else can … to lift up and liberate when
nothing else will.

- Bishop Michael Curry

--

It is better to allow our lives to speak for us than our words.
God did not bear the cross only two thousand years ago.
He bears it today, and he dies and is resurrected from day
to day. It would be a poor comfort to the world if it had to
depend on a historical God who died two thousand years
ago. Do not, then, preach the God of history, but show him
as he lives today through you.

- Mahatma Gandhi

CLOSING THOUGHT -St. Francis of Assisi

All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish
the light of a single candle.
